Leah May Dennen
Sumner County Law Director
First elected by County Commission in October of 2004 to serve as the chief legal advisor for Sumner County, Tennessee, Leah serves as the lead litigator and advisor to the Sumner County Commission, its boards and committees, as well as all county departments. She also works as the Sumner County Delinquent Tax Attorney.
Prior to her election as Law Director, Leah served as the Staff Attorney in the office of the Law Director for a decade.
Before joining the County, Leah worked as an attorney with Baker, Worthington, Crossly, Stansberry & Woolf and later with Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs as well as serving as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable W. Frank Crawford, of the Tennessee Court of Appeals.
In November 2010, Leah was awarded the “Sumner County Public Servant of the Year” By Sumner County Council of Governments and in February 2011, was named one of the 25 most influential citizens in Sumner County.
Leah received her undergraduate and legal education from the University of Memphis, Fogelman College of Business and Economics and the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
Benjamin Charles Allen
Ben joined the Sumner County Law Director’s Office as the Staff Attorney in October of 2017. Ben actively assists the Law Director in performing all of the duties of the office. Ben is also responsible for ensuring that all public records requests are answered in accordance with state law.
Ben earned his Juris Doctor at Belmont University College of Law in May of 2017. Before that Ben graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Political Science.
