PRESS RELEASE
AUGUST 28, 2020
FROM SUMNER COUNTY MAYOR, ANTHONY HOLT
On August 28, 2020, Governor Lee signed Executive Order No. 59, amending Executive Order No. 54, as amended by Executive Order No. 55, by extending the term of the Order until 11:59 p.m., Central Daylight Time, on September 30, 2020.
Since Sumner County’s Executive Order to wear masks in public went into effect on July 7th, I have continued to consult with local health professionals, leaders of our local hospitals, and the Director of our local Health Department. As a result of their input and in an effort to slow the spread of this virus, I am extending the county-wide Executive Order requiring the wearing of face masks in public places. This Executive Order will be effective and enforceable as of 11:59 p.m., Central Daylight Time, on August 29, 2020, and shall remain in effect until 11:59 p.m., Central Daylight Time, on September 30, 2020.
We must all continue to do our part to slow the spread of this virus. Health professionals still recommend that wearing face coverings is one of the most effective ways to protect ourselves and others. My purpose is to take steps necessary to protect the health and well-being of our citizens and to preserve our economy.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Thank you for keeping your family and our community safe.
God Bless,
Anthony Holt
