Planning Commission

The Sumner County Regional Planning Commission is an eight member body established pursuant to Tennessee State Law in order to guide the growth and development of the unincorporated portion of the county via the County’s established Zoning and Subdivision Regulations. The Planning Commission is charged with the review of Plats and Site Plans, and provides recommendations to the Sumner County Board of Commissioners related to proposed changes to the County’s Zoning Resolution, Zoning Map, and other Planning Documents.

Regular meetings of the Sumner County Regional Planning Commission are generally held the fourth Tuesday of every month at 5:00pm at the Sumner County Administration Building.

Board of Zoning Appeals

The Sumner County Board of Zoning Appeals is a five member body established pursuant to Tennessee State Law in order to hear and render decisions upon certain zoning related requests and questions within its designated authority. The Board of Zoning Appeals hears requests for Variances and Special Exceptions, and other Administrative Appeals, and renders interpretations of the County’s Zoning Resolution and Zoning Map.   

Regular meetings of the Sumner County Board of Zoning Appeals are generally held the second Thursday of every month at 5:00pm at the Sumner County Administration Building. Click here for the full 2022 Calendar.
